Who is Buttercup?

Buttercup is a royal princess in the history of the, 'Princess Bride'. She is not like a normal person of royalty, however, for she:

• enjoys riding her horse (the whole day, if she could)
• goes on several adventures
• is very clever
• and not afraid to step outside the castle

She also dearly loves Westley, a common farm boy who used to work for her. After he parted ways with her (to find a new path so the couple could stay together), Buttercup finds her beloved and run off together on several adventures.

What does she wear?

In the modern world we live in today, Princess Buttercup wears a loose maroon top and classic dark blue jeans. She also wears mid-heel boots and bears a purse, along with two golden bracelets and pearl and gold earrings.

The fabrics I used to create Buttercup's outfit are the designer type. Mood Fabrics is a store that carries all sorts of designer fabrics for designers to create their masterpieces, as well as researching accessory shops for her various decorations on her outfit.

Fabric/Clothes 

Since Buttercup is known to be very rich in the modern world, I can only expect her to have her clothes made out of the finest of fabrics. Her top is made out of the finest of maroon silk chiffon, while her jeans are created from blue stretch denim. For the top, designer silk chiffon is $17.99 per yard, resulting in $61.52 spent on the making of the shirt (3 yards). This would most likely result in the actual cost of the shirt being around $71.50. The jeans are $13.99 per yard and $20.99 for all of the denim, making the jeans around $31. Therefore, the cost for the jeans and shirt are around $92.50. 

Accessories 

Buttercup wears a satchel purse and a thick infinity scarf in the winter (her scarf is made out of thick wool snood). Her scarf is $125, while her purse is $188. The boots that she wears are mid heel boots at the cost of $139. The total cost of Buttercup’s outfit so far is $544.50.

Jewelry

Buttercup also wears expensive gold jewelry, being the rich woman she is. She wears a gold bagel ($100) and an 18K gold bracelet at the gigantic price of $5,200. In addition, Buttercup wears an 18K gold locket around her neck at the price of $1,975 (there is also a picture of her and Westley inside it). Additionally, her 18K gold and pearl earrings are $475. As a resolution, the cost of her whole outfit is $8,294.50.

Political 

• In the 2016 American election, the look was based on autumn seasoned clothing. Buttercup wore this outfit and made a statement that she will support and participate in this election in the modern world.

• Buttercup’s jewelry reveals that she is a rich person in the social world. She is one of the ‘upper’ people in society from all the wealth that she has.
• Her choice of clothing make her a respected person in society. Unlike people who wear hoodies, sneakers, leggings, etc., she is chic and sophisticated, making her a larger person in society.

Application

To apply, Buttercup must fill out a form the college provides her with. The form will vary depending on where she lives.

Portfolio

After she meets the entry requirements, Buttercup must submit a portfolio including her best work that shows her skills and thinking in no more than 10 images. It must include:

• Three images of fashion design sketches (sketches demonstrating her development of a fashion theme)
• Two images of finished fashion illustrations (using color and demonstrating her skills of presentation, these could be hand-drawn, painted, collage or computer images)
• Three images of research images for fashion design, using a range of materials (drawings, notes, photographs, images of items that she finds inspirational for fashion design)

• Two images of any other creative work. It's her decision, the college leaves it up to her.

If she is successful, she will be invited to a full portfolio review taking place in the college. If she cannot attend in person, she must submit a full portfolio (up to 30 images) through UAL’s online portfolio review tool.

Buttercup is a person with a unique personality. She is a powerful, clever, and in love princess, but loyal and not afraid to take risks. Unlike most women her age in the ‘Princess Bride’, she rides her horse almost all day. Therefore, she is not shown as a completely feminine person. She wears a top and jeans rather than a designer dress. As a result, she is a person who loves beautiful clothing, but not too feminine. Her outfit lets her walk and go outside with ease, especially compared to a gown, dress, or skirt.

Who is Westley?

Westley is a poor farm boy who loves Buttercup. However, he leaves her to find a new path for a successful future of the couple. He comes back as the mysterious man in black to rescue her, and together, they have several dangerous adventures.

What does Westley wear?

In the modern world, Westley wears a simple dark gray button up shirt. He also wears a pair of dark blue jeans, along with a dark brown belt with black slip-ons.

I believe that Westley is rather simpler in the modern world, especially compared to Buttercup. His top is made out of dark gray cotton double cloth at $17.99 per yard, which makes the shirt $58.46 (3.25 yards). The three buttons are $1.49 each ($4.47), resulting in the cost of making the shirt $62.93. When the designer sells the shirt, however, it will be about $68. The pants are made out of dark blue cotton selvedge denim for $15.99 per yard. There are around 2 yards of fabric used (1 ½ for average, but Westley seems to be a tall person), resulting in the cost of $31.98 to purchase the material (the cost for the final piece would be around $35). So far, the cost of the outfit is $103.

Accessories  

For Westley’s accessories, they consist of a brown belt and black slip-on shoes. The belt is $79, while the cost of the shoes are $90. Therefore, the total cost of Westley’s outfit is $282.
